Compulsory Basic Training

The aim of the CBT is to provide training to enable you to achieve basic machine control and manoeuvres whilst in the safety of an off road training area, later progressing to an on-road element where you will be trained how to conduct yourself safely through the use of an instructor to student radio system.

The CBT is an ongoing assessment and not a test, you must demonstrate that you are competent and safe in each of the five modules to the required standard. On completion of the course you will be issued with a CBT certificate (normally on the same day).

Any student that is unsuccessful in the training area will not be taken out on the road, but will continue to practice in the training area and will not be sent home! There is no substitute for experience and then you will be invited back for additional training. If you are unsuccessful on the road training a CBT certificate can not be issued and you will also be invited back for additional training.
